I was reading an interesting question and answer session online regarding what men and women typically are self consious about as far as their appearance goes. I thought I would share some of what was said. These things really say a lot about current society. It’s pretty eye opening stuff.
Following is a list (in no particular order) of topics that appeared most frequently:

Women
1. Belly Fat - This one got tons of votes from women especially after childbirth. It seems that there are still plenty of women that feel completely self consious about how their stomach looks naked and in clothes.
2. Boobs - Is it any wonder that breast augmentation has experienced a nearly 200% increase in the last 10 years?
3. Hair - The advertising industry has a field day with this one. Everywhere you turn there are newspaper ads, magazine photos, commercials etc. regarding good hair and hair products.
4. Weight - This topic has become an obsession, especially in America. T.V shows like “The Biggest Loser”, really bring this subject to light. Women are especially subject to the sensationalism that this topic brings.
5. Rear-End - Running a close second to weight in proximity, this is one area in general that gets a lot of attention. Women tend to gain more hip and butt weight than men do so you can see why women all over are self conscious about this area of the body.
Men
1. Penis Size - Talk about an obsession! Men have a big problem with this one. Surprisingly, women don’t see it that way but men certainly do. Although 95% of men are of average size, most men feel like they just don’t measure up.
2. Hair Loss - Appearance wise, this seemed to be one of the hottest topics of most of the men that were invoved in this question and answer session. Most men admitted that losing their hair was the most devastating thing that they experienced personally.
3. Stomach or Abs - Again this points to the overall appearance conscious society that we have grown accustomed to. Men are always looking for ways to get wash board abs.
4. Nose - As the center of one’s face, this area (although very important for women too), has gotten a lot more press for men over that last several years. Nose jobs for men are on the rise.
5. Arms - More and more men are proud to sport a great pair of muscular arms. It seems that more women these days are paying attention to this body part in men too.
Have we all become so programmed by T.V., movies, magazines and the like to be so superficial? It looks like it is getting harder and harder to be grateful for what we have and to not be so envious of what we see.

When I was getting my ex back, you can be sure that apologies came far and few between and only when appropriate.
3. DO NOT Promise to change for good this time - Do I even need to say it? This is like "never say never." People as a rule don't change. You and I both know that this is only a last ditch effort to make another empty promise to keep someone on board for just a little longer. Summary? It doesn't work! Keep reading and learn what does.
4. DO NOT try to get them to see that it wasn't really your fault - Come on, nobody is truly this smooth. At least not for long. All this is saying is that you are taking no fault for what went wrong and that you are essentially blaming the other person in the relationship. Remember it takes two to tango.
5. NEVER beg them to take you back - There is a lot of truth to being completely turned off by someone who is desperate, too needy or who completely revolves their world around you. It is extremely important to be independent within a relationship. Learn why there needs to be some mystery involved.

How to Get Back Together with My Ex in 3 Steps

Your ex will need time to think about the relationship, and this will give you time as well to consider your options. If your ex realizes that he or she still loves you, they will find a way to get back with you.
2 - Do not contact your ex!
Do not make an effort to contact your ex anymore right now. You should cut communication off with him or her so that there can be some "thinking time". This may seem counterintuitive, but by cutting communication off you are signaling that you have already moved on and that you are doing just fine.
This will allow him or her to think about the relationship and how they feel about its value. It will also allow them to have some time to miss you again. When you can separate yourself from your ex and can calm your nerves, that may be the best time to let them realize how important you were to them.
3 - Plan Ahead for the Get Together
Once you have completed the two steps mentioned just above, you can start working on planning on when you should meet, where you should meet, and also what should be said when you do meet up again. This will allow you to get a better idea of whether or not your ex still loves you, and also if there is any chance that you and your ex will be able to get back together.
